Training

Knowledge is power and when employees are well trained, they become a powerful and important part of your company's success. Kistler Crane & Hoist offers several training programs from basic to advanced. We have a classroom at our office but are happy to train at your facility and on your schedule. A few of our classes are:

  • Crane & Hoist Inspection/Certification.
This is a 3-day seminar and one of the most comprehensive crane and hoist inspection training classes anywhere and is applicable to all cranes and hoists regardless of manufacturer. Students will learn to evaluate deficiencies and safety related items while learning to interpret Federal Regulations, National Standards, and Crane and Hoist Specifications.

  • Safety Saves Training. Designed for training operators and designated qualified individuals in the importance of safely operating overhead lifting equipment. We cover key requirements from OSHA, ANSI, ASME, and CMAA. We can assist companies with as few as one or two crane/hoist operators on site to those with hundreds. Our combination of classroom training and practical hands-on ensures maximum learning for your personnel. Kistler has the capacity to train up to 16 personnel in our own training facility. However, we often provide training at our customer’s facilities. Anytime— Anywhere is our training motto.

  • Crane Operator Training. This class is for any new employee who will be operating overhead lifting cranes and hoists. Coursework covers regulations with a heavy emphasis on pre-operation inspection requirements, operator responsibilities, proper lifting techniques and equipment familiarization.

  • Train the Trainer. This is an in-depth and customized class for crane operator training. It can span 1-2 days depending on content developed between Kistler and the customer. Typical content is a combination of operator training, basic rigging, rigging gear, and sling inspection. We can also provide training on a customer's particular policies relating to training requirements for new operators, lift plans, frequent and periodic inspection requirements (including paperwork), homemade below the hook lifting devices, and load testing.

  • CMCO Chain Hoist Technician Certification. Kistler Crane and Hoist has partnered with Columbus McKinnon in their mission to improve the quality of hoist service and repair through the testing and certification of repair and service professionals. This program measures the skills necessary for competent job performance by testing knowledge of diagnostic and repair procedures using the latest industry standards and CMCO repair and service guidelines.
